The 24 Hours of... Williams Grove?

These photos were shared with TVR of one of several 24 Hour Endurance races held at Williams Grove. We were not able to come up with many details, other than famed sprint car legend Mitch Smith was the winner. If anyone can provide more info on these events, please contact TVR, so we can pass the information along to our viewers.

Editor's note: A TVR viewer contacted us with the following info:
I 'm pretty sure the races were 26 hour marathons. There were only 2 of them held in consecutive years, early 60's I believe. Each car had 2 drivers to share the driving chores. Both races were won by Mitch Smith and Dean Mullen. It was the same car both years, the one in your pictures, I think it was about a 1947 Mercury. I kind of think that they had a sponsor which I think was Michelin Tires. The object was to complete as many laps as you could in 26 hours. That's all I can remember right now. I could probably find more information with a little effort. Hope this will help.

The #1 of Mitch Smith on his way to victory.

Front stretch action.
Did you know they also held drag races on the front stretch at Williams Grove? More on that soon...
