Writers and Contributors Wanted

There are lots of places where you can find historical racing statistics, such as who drove what and when, and who won what and where. What I personally enjoy most at racing related events is listening to those historic drivers and other racing personalities sharing their accounts of those days gone by.

More often than not, these stories are great comedies (possibly embellished... just a little). Some are stories of great loss and sadness. However, all are told from the heart and with great pride. When you’re lucky enough to hear them tell these stories first hand, you can see that sparkle return to their eyes that shows just how special those times were. These are all priceless moments in time that I feel should be preserved. These memories give great insight to the friendships, rivalries, accomplishments and disappointments experienced by these men that do not show up in any record book of statistics. Once those men are gone, so are their great memories. These are the memories TVR wants to help preserve.

To accomplish this, TVR will be interviewing these men and give them the chance to share these important personal memories that are so much a part of who they are. Whenever possible, these interviews will be audio recordings so that these memories will be shared in their own words. Text excerpts and photos from these interviews will permanently appear here in TheVintageRacer.com. But more importantly, these interviews will be preserved and placed into the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing’s archives for the use of generations to come.

So... what is your area of racing history expertise or interest? Do you have photos, stories or memories you'd like to share? TheVintageRacer.com is looking for these personal accounts from all venues of motor racing (2-wheels, 4-wheels, whatever!) and from all over the country. TVR is not just looking for the big names, but those stories of any and all of these heroes, friends and competitors that helped make racing history, both national and local.

If you’d like to contribute stories, interviews (in print or audio format), or photos (then and now) of your vintage racing heroes, please send them to us at TheVintageRacer.com. Contributors will be given full credit for their submissions (along with links to their own sites if requested), their stories will be permanently placed into the TheVintageRacer.com website, and all items contributed to TVR will be placed into the archives of the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing.

Also, if your a driver, owner, builder, mechanic, official, announcer, photographer, writer, or anyone who has been involved in motor racing of any kind and feel that you have something you'd like to contribute to the preservation of your sport, please feel free to contact TVR. We'd love to hear from you.

For more information on where and how to contribute articles, click here. Please note that most items contributed are to be permanently archived in the museum after being used in this website and cannot be returned. The exceptions would be photos and audiotapes that can be digitally copied and returned if necessary.

Please, help us to preserve these important memories and events that are so much a part of racing history! This is a non-profit effort, nobody's making a dime off of this project. This is a single-minded goal geared towards preserving the personal memoirs of the men and women who helped to make all venues of motor racing what they are today.

Sincerely,
Dave Zortman
