Held in July of 2002 at the
York Expo Center, the inaugural York US 30 Musclecar Madness Event was an
outstanding tribute to York US 30, located in York, PA, which was
one of the finest drag racing facilities in the country in its time.
York US 30 was site of the
largest one day drag race in the nation in 1965 with the presentation of
the Super Stock Nationals. The show presented many of the famous
race cars, teams and drivers who competed at what was one of the most
famous drag strips in the country. Also, many of York US 30's Staff
and Management were in attendance to visit and reminisce about the good
old days.
Along with the great display
of legendary race cars was an impressive assortment of Detroit's muscle
cars of the era. There was also a tribute to the "Land Of
Ned" and the NHRA All-Star Super Stock Circuit and drag racing
memorabilia that brought back to life memories of the '60's and '70's.
Equally as impressive as the
cars displayed inside, were the hundreds of other muscle cars, street rods
and custom cars that "cruised in" to the Expo Center's parking
lot.
If you missed this year's
event, don't worry. Show promoters Darwin Doll and Bill Stiles have
already begun scheduling the 2003 event. For more information, go to www.yorkus30.com
