Why Do I Need to Register?

The reasons I've decided to go with registration is to keep control of who has access to all the information that it's members have worked so hard to put together.  The last thing I want to see is a bunch of undesirable spammers and scammers posting links to their male enhancement products, sleazy pornography sites, discount Canadian online drug stores and the like.  Bottom line, if it's not about the history of motorsports, it doesn't belong here.

Also, not everyone is comfortable having their names, email addresses and other personal information posted for all to see.  When you register for the Member's Section, you can create a fictitious screen name to use, instead of using your real name.  Though a valid email address is required to sign up, while creating your profile you can choose the option of keeping it hidden from public view to protect your privacy.

Whether your goal is to research, or just looking for a place to "hang out" with people with the same interests, TheVintageRacer.com is your website to enjoy and use as you like.  I'm just the guy who pushes the buttons.  Since the site has moved to a new host, the package I purchased states that we now have unlimited storage and unlimited bandwidth.  I'd like to test that statement!

Lastly, none of the personal information of registered members will ever be sold or disclosed to outside sources.  I despise spam mail as much as you do.

So please, sign up and join in.  I look forward to seeing what all of you have to share.

Sincerely,
Dave Zortman

How to Register

  1. Follow the link to the Member's Section and click on the "Register" link at the upper left of the page.
  2. Enter your desired username.
  3. Enter your valid email address.
  4. Choose a password.
  5. Verify your password.
  6. Enter the Visual Verification.
  7. Read the Agreement, check the "I agree" box and submit your registration.
  8. Wait!: There's still one more important step!
Due to a high volume of fake registrations by scammers and spammers (100+ per day!), you are now required to do the following before your account will be approved:  Once you have completed your registration, you must also send an email to us at tvr1@comcast.net from the same email account you used in your registration, along with a sentence or two as to what areas of motor racing history are of interest to you. You don’t have to write anything epic.  This is just to let us know that you are a human and not a software program looking to place spam.

This should greatly help us to verify legitimate new members.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
