Leroy's Scrapbook
1950's

After repairing the front end and replacing the old radiator with a larger one and double plating the wheels, I took the car to Susquehanna Speedway. I parked alongside of the #5, the car Fred Jones was driving while his own #68 was being built. I was towing with a 1948 Chevrolet.
I had to chain the motor fast to the frame on the left side to keep the transmission bolts from breaking off.
At Lincoln Speedway one Friday night, a stone came through the windshield. I closed my eyes. The glass flew all over me, but didn't get into my eyes. After that, I wore goggles every race. Someone hit me in the back door that same night.
