Dick Worley Collection |
|
If you attended races in the central PA area over the last 40 or more years, the late Dick Worley was one of those faces you always saw there. Dick had an intense love for racing. In addition to being a photographer, Dick was also a former car owner and mechanic. After his passing, Dick's family donated his outstanding collection to the York County Racing Club. The section below contains images scanned from Dick's own shots taken on 35 mm slides. None of these images have before been published. Dick carefully documented dates, names and places for almost all of them. They will be displayed as he had arranged them in his Kodak Carousel Transview Slide trays. Unfortunately, time has deteriorated many of these images. But, with a little digital magic I was able to restore them fairly respectably. Very little was done in the way of selective editing. Many of these shots are somewhat under or overexposed, others are blurry, or a little out of focus. However, each still has a story to tell so they were included with the others. While some of them may not be "artsy", they may still serve to show the original colors of a car, or bring back a fond memory to someone. There are more than 35 of these Carousels, which will take some time to go through and scan. Therefore, this section is a work in progress, so be sure to check back often for updates. Note: See more of Dick's collection in TVR's Modern History Section.
