Recently,
I came across these photos in the YCRC archives. I would dearly
love to tell you who it was that not only took these pictures, but
also took the time to carefully document each and every one of
them. It appears that whoever this fan was, he somehow knew the importance
of keeping records of these golden days of motor racing. Thank
goodness for people like him that had the foresight to do this.
This collection of photos was donated to YCRC, however, it is not
known by whom.
On the back of each
photo many details are listed, such as the date and location, name
of the car, the car owner, driver, engine, colors of the car,
date, racing association and how they fared during the event. All,
except two, are from the 1954 season at Williams Grove and Reading
Fairgrounds. There were a few occasions where it was difficult to
read the handwriting, so please let me know if you catch any names
that are misspelled.
As far as I know, none of these pictures (except for a few that appear to have
been purchased from professional photographers) have ever before been published anywhere. If
anyone can identify who shot and documented these photos, please
let us know.
Each series of
photos is grouped below by date.

NOTE (5/1/03): TVR is happy to announce that the photographer who
took these photos has been identified! Dick Worley's daughter
proudly informed us that these photos were taken by her father.
Dick was a huge race fan and you will find much of his collection throughout
the pages of TVR.
