1980's Central PA
Sprint Cars

While the 1980's may be a little too recent to be considered "Vintage Racers" by some, we thought it would still be enjoyable by many to look back into the recent past. Sprint Car racing in Central Pennsylvania between the mid 1980's through the early 1990's was second to none anywhere in the country. The level of talented drivers and teams in the area was outstanding. The "local" teams that competed here on a weekly basis were not the least bit intimidated when the World of Outlaws rolled into town. They outran the Outlaws so many times that they became to be known as the PA Posse. To this day, they still give the WoO all they can handle.

In the photos that follow you'll find the legends from the recent past, the legends of the day, the legends of the future, and a few legends in their own minds (just kidding). There are some photos of some very young drivers who are enjoying great success today, as well as some drivers that are rumored to be as old or older than the dirt they're racing on (again... just kidding). If you were lucky enough to see some of the racing in this area during this time period, we're sure you'll react much as we did going through these pictures and find yourself saying quite often, "Oh yeah. I remember him!"

Enjoy! - TVR
